Sacrifice
The Salt Lake City knitting community is all a flutter...the Yarn Harlot is coming.
But alas, there are two knitting sisters who will not be attending. Yes, those sisters are Erin and myself. Why you ask? Well, it all started on July 24th, my niece Emma's Birthday. (Read this darling post Erin wrote about our Emma here.) As a part of her birthday present, the aunties--Erin, Bri, and myself--decided to host a sleepover just for her. We picked a random weekend in September and that was that. Little did we know it would be the same night of the Yarn Harlot.
Three reasons why missing the Yarn Harlot is not such a big sacrifice after all:
1. After Emma read out loud her sleepover invitation, she asked the following questions:
"Are we going to listen to records?" (Do 6 year-olds still know what records are?)
"We are going to do each others' hair and make-up, right?"
"Do you have nail polish at your house or do you need me to bring mine?"
I have no idea what 50s movie she has been watching, but that girl has a very clear idea of what a sleepover should be.
2. She has had her overnight bag packed for over a month.
3. My sister-in-law told me yesterday that the last couple of days she has put Emma to sleep in her bed, but in the mornings has found her asleep on the floor in her sleeping bag. When my sis-in-law asked Emma what she was doing, Emma said, "Practicing."
So yes, tonight we will miss spending an evening with one of the biggest knitting celebrities, but could you deny such cuteness?

Awww, I don't blame you a bit! She will remember it forever, and so will you!
I'm missing the harlot too. Yeah, I know, I don't live in Utah anymore, but I still sortof feel like I'm missing out! And I'm not even having a sleepover.
Maybe I should have my own not-going-to-see-the-harlot sleepover too, heehee.

I didn't even know the Yarn Harlot was coming. Shows how into it I am right now. Oh well. I have to spend time at home! You are making a 6 year olds dreams come true and I can promise it is worth all of the sacrifice! I know that Emma's parents will be just as grateful for giving her such an awesome gift. I know I wouldn't be able to be as good of a parent without family support. You guys are awesome. Emma and her siblings are so lucky to have you as Aunties!!

You're in Salt Lake City?
I will there for Xmas to see my stepson. If you are, you have to tell me what yarn stores to visit, etc.
Thanks for the sweet comment.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend!
