On the path to Green Gables.

Green Gables is coming along. I just seperated the sleeves from the body, so that means I have a lot of stockinette rounds ahead...wahoo! (Can you just feel my enthusiasm...) I am really loving how it's turning out. So Kara girl, keep on truckin'!

Edited to add: It seems like there is a lot of discussion about the size of my neckline on the Green Gables KAL. I have no idea why my neck is so small. And the more I think about it, the more it bothers me that mine is drastically smaller than the picture in the pattern. What did I do wrong? I am even knitting the large, so it's not a matter of the number of cast-on stitches. Maybe it is my cast-on technique (I used the long-tail method), or I cast on too tight, or the fact that it is not blocked yet. Ideally, I would like the neck to be a little wider than it shows in the pic. Any ideas what may have happened?

Hello, just made my way over from Craftster. I LOVE how yours looks so far! It is a beautiful color. Do you think you'll do any shaping on the body?

so cute! Love the color! Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks for the compliments. As far as shaping...I think I'm going to have to keep trying it on to figure out whether it needs more shaping. I definitely don't want this to turn out too box-y!

Your sweater is looking great. I am halfway done with mine and I noticed your neck is small, as is mine. I was expecting a larger neck like the picture on the pattern. However, if you do the math, the neck front and back are only 6.8 inches. Do you find this puzzling?

Green Gables is looking great! I think the smaller neckline looks fine - in fact, if I end up making one for my sister I think she would prefer that neckline.

It may be the model is wearing a larger size than normal. Clothing, including knits, are shown on people much smaller than they are made to fit.

This is such a lovely sweater, I love the colour and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished object.

My neckline looks like that too, and I was a bit worried but I like how yours turned out so I feel a little better now. Must be the pattern if we all have trouble with it. Oh well, live and learn.

Hey! I'm a knitter in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, which is just across the harbour from Halifax. I stumbled on your blog this morning while doing a google search for other NS knit blogs.

I love your blog name! I read the subtitle as "Making life a little sweater." sigh. knitting on the brain.

I read your entry about your cruise to the Great White North! I just thought I'd give you a shout to say I hope you enjoy your cruise and if you need directions to any yarn shops during your time in our port, let me know! (I hope that doesn't sound stalker-ish!!!)

(BTW - the weather here in May? It can be warm during the days, but can cool off in the evenings. Dress in layers!)

Green Gables looks sooo pretty! Dunno about the neckline but it seems like in the long run you'll get a lot of use out of this knit. I have been looking around for interesting summer patterns so thanks for the inspiration :-)

P.S. I hear ya with all that stockinette, blah.
